The Opportunity

Are you a culinary leader with a passion for creating delicious meals and a knack for efficient kitchen operations? Harvey Beef is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Cook to lead our canteen team in Harvey!

In this dynamic role, you'll be the heart of our canteen, responsible for day-to-day operations and supervising our fantastic team. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional food and service.

About the Role

As our Senior Cook, you'll be instrumental in:

  • Planning and preparing delicious meals for both day and afternoon shifts, including Saturdays, and pricing menu items strategically.

  • Showcasing your butchery skills by preparing wholesale meat for recipes.

  • Managing special catering requests and coordinating staff events.

  • Operating all kitchen equipment with expertise, from deep fryers to grills.

  • Maintaining an impeccably clean kitchen with a "clean-as-you-go" approach.

  • Optimizing inventory, reducing waste, and managing stock orders from our trusted suppliers.

  • Providing excellent front-of-house customer service and coordinating seamlessly with management.

  • Supervising and training canteen staff to ensure a smooth and effective operation.

  • Upholding the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP compliance.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You'll have solid experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, and a strong background in implementing food safety and hygiene practices. Previous supervisory experience in a food environment is highly desirable.

  • A natural leader who enjoys training and guiding a team to success.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff and management.

  • You're a master of managing your time and food production in a busy setting.

  • A commitment to maintaining high Occupational Safety and Health performance and compliance with safety management systems.

  • A passion for providing great service and ensuring smooth interactions with staff.
