About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef de Partie to join the Catering team at Sheldon College.

Working under the direction of the Catering Manager, this role is responsible for preparing high-quality food for the College Café, daily catering operations and College events. You will support menu preparation, food presentation, stock control and kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and service.

The successful applicant will bring strong cooking skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced team environment. Opportunities also exist to support internal and external College events, including the College Food Truck.

This role includes a responsibility for student safety and wellbeing, requiring compliance with the College’s Child Safe Standards, policies and procedures, and all relevant legislative and duty of care obligations.

This is a full-time, fixed-term parental leave contract through to July 2027.

Standard hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Some flexibility is required to support operational needs and events, including evening or weekend work.

Potential opportunity for an ongoing full-time term-time role at the conclusion of the contract period.

About you

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, qualified or in final stages of Apprenticeship
  • Experience in a similar role within a catering or events environment
  • Proven ability in bulk food preparation
  • Strong cooking skills with a passion for food and presentation
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend events

 Child Safety and Wellbeing

  • Eligibility to hold a Working with Children Blue Card or equivalent
  • Ability to comply with and uphold the College’s Child Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures
  • Completion and maintenance of mandatory Child Protection and Child Safety and Wellbeing training
  • Responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students
