About the Role

St Peters Lutheran College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our Food Services team. The Cook plays a vital role in supporting the efficient and high-quality operation of the College's Food Services department, assisting with preparation and cooking of meals and supporting catering tasks safely and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and to quality standards.
  • Support the Chef and Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety and proper storage.
  • Be aware of food allergies and special dietary requirements.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and a strong commitment to providing healthy and  appealing menu options. 
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively liaise with colleagues and  subordinate staff, ensuring clear and consistent communication. 

What You Bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Food Safety Supervision or a related discipline, and/or at least 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene legislation, food safety standards and allergen management.
  • Experience in a similar role, with knowledge of an education, boarding or institutional setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to the College’s Christian ethos and values.
